Index Note to surfers: Please use the search engine capabilities provided for in this page. There are two options for finding information contained in the book Under the Live Oak Tree. The options are: keyword search and any word or phrase search.
The words listed in the Index section of the book, can be found through the keyword search. The results provide results from a search of the entire book.
Words or phrases not listed in the Index, can be found choosing the option that allows the user to perform a search of any term or phrase in the entire book.
After you have conducted a successful search, and you know in which web page the information is, you can then locate the information exactly by using these tips and reminders. This is a standard procedure that applies to any web page and any search engine. This is what one does:
- First, one needs to copy, for a "copy and paste" sequence. What do you copy?
- Copy the phrase that the search engine found good results for; you do this by placing your
cursor on the search engine form, highlighting the desired phrase or word, and then pressing
simultaneously two keys in the keyboard: "Control" and "c".
- Next, download to your screen, the web page where the results are. (Click on the link given
by the search engine to do this directly.)
- Once the page is in downloaded in your screen, open "Edit" -which is the option next to
"File" (found in the top navigational bar, on the left hand side.) A menu comes up, and one
of the choices is "Find." If you press on "Find," a prompt will come up with a blank space
for you to fill in what you would like for the computer to find for you.
- Put the cursor in the blank space, and paste what you had copied; you do this by pressing at
the same time two keys in the keyboard: "Control" and "v"
- You will have a choice to locate what you are looking for, from start to finish of the web
page, or backwards, from wherever your cursor might be, going to the top of the page. At
first, choose going down (start to finish). Choose "find next" and the computer will highlight
for you the exact place where your phrase or sentence is in the web page. You then press
again "find next" if the search engine indicated that there are several references to the phrase
or word in that page. You can go backwards and forward, until you have checked and
re-checked all you needed.
Important: Remember to mark "Match Exact Phrase" if you are looking for a specific phrase. Otherwise, the results will include matches for each individual word in the phrase.
