Let your mouse do the walking: Seguin business
web sites
I find it quite entertaining to let the mouse walk me through
web sites of businesses in Seguin. In a way, it is like going
to a Seguin virtual expo. Like at any expo, some businesses have
a substantial presence. There are designs for all tastes. Much
like clothing choices, which are limitless, from the flashy to
the subdued, some web site designs are flashy, others are esthetic,
professional and elegant, and others are somewhat plain.
It is very hard to decide which site to mention first and which
next. I decided to follow the chronological order in which I
became aware of these business sites:
- Guadalupe Valley Hospital has a friendly web site with pictures
of the medical staff, hospital events such as Lamaze classes,
a map of the hospital , employment opportunities (help wanted),
a customer satisfaction survey, and links to numerous sites in
a variety of medical topics, such as pharmacy, cancer, and alternative
medicine. The URL address is http://www.gvh.com.
- Weers Studio features numerous still life and landscape paintings
by local artist Jerry Weers, it is located at http://www.texas.net/~weersjt.
The site contains numerous links to art museums and galleries
worldwide, artists and their work, prints and printmaking, and
art archives. If you are an art fan, this site takes you to paradise.
- Hierholzer Engineering, is a professional Engineering consulting
firm specialized in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition SCADA
communications systems. The URL address is http://www.connecti.com/~altonh/.
- Seguin Web Design, a company that sells design, hosting and
management of web sites, as well as graphic design and posting
to search engines, is located at http://seguin.net/corp/swd.
From the web site you can access Seguin.Net, the site that
the company created for the promotion of Seguin, as well as various
web sites it designed, such as Alcor Aviation in San Antonio.
- Century 21 D&D Real State, sells homes, land, commercial
and waterfront property through its web site located at http://www.seguin.net/corp/c21dd.
Featured are pictures of broker/owner Linda Dietz, and of James
Dietz, Marilyn Altwein and Randy Schriewer. You can click into
property listings. There is company information, including a picture
of the office home.
- Coull Computer Network and Support, at http://www.ccnas.com/ccns/ccns.htm,
sells computers and computer parts; as well as computer services
such as on-site service, and consulting for PC's and networks.
Included in this site are computer parts and their prices, and
service agreements. There is an animated top hat juggler in the
home page.
- The web site of Edward Jones Investments representatives Warren
and Kathy Nossaman can be accessed from http://www.edwardjones.com/cgi/getHTML/IRLList_br.html?ParName=nossaman.
Surf choices include stocks of local interest updated every 15
minutes; market commentaries, local branch events information
such as seminars, and lots of information about various investment
solutions.
- Data Processing Service, at http://members.aol.com/OJDunlap/index.html
offers data processing services which include word processing,
secretarial service, resume service and also typing of student
papers/reports/thesis'.
- Dale Dyess Realtors, at http://www.thecia.net/business/dyess/
offers farm and ranch, acreage, residential, waterfront and commercial
listings. Pictures illustrate the farm and ranch, residential
and waterfront listings. The red company logo is seen across
the screen. There are links to the city of Seguin home page and
to the Seguin area Chamber of Commerce.
- Century 21 Action Realty at http://www.century21action.com/seguin/index.html,
offers background information about Seguin, and listings of homes.
You can click in the listing to get more detailed information;
this includes the realtor agent and sometimes a picture of property
of various values, from almost one million dollars to under 50,000
dollars.
- Alexander Oil, at http://www.alexanderoil.com/,
represents the following oil companies: Chevron, Texaco and
Fina. From the web site, you can access the web sites of these
companies. Jud Alexander is the Manager of the company. At the
web site, you can learn about him, and about the background history
behind this company, which has never "run out of gas."
- Interstate Mortgage Company, at http://www.axs4u.net/~imcloans,
displays an artistic company logo. Some of the choices you can
click into are: What Services Does IMC Offer? How Much Home Can
I Afford? You can learn about all types of loans, such as conventional,
FHA, VA, adjustable rate and balloon mortgages, etc. You can fill
out a qualifier form.
- The "new kid on the block" is the site by Story
Communications, at http://www.storycomm.com.
The company publishes thousands of advertisements in its computer
and communication equipment magazines. The name of the magazines
are: Computer Manager and Telecom Manager (both with web sites);
and Compu-Mart, The*Mart and Print*Mart. The web site contains
information contained in thousands of ads in the magazines. This
is a very flashy site with a galactic theme. There are all kinds
of animated displays; there is use of midi files such that you
hear an audio recording of welcome.
Previously through this column, I invited businesses to submit
the URL addresses of their web sites. If I have omitted the web
site of your company, it was not an intentional oversight. I did
not hear from you.
